Bangkok!

After spending 18 hours on an airplane and 10 hours sitting in airports, I've arrived in Bangkok in the Kingdom of Thailand. Fortunately for me, I get to spend the night here on a metal bench in anticipation of an 11am flight to Hanoi, tomorrow morning. So far, this has been fantastic. I don't have any keen insights to reveal, other than the fact I'm no longer a huge fan of airplane food. Tonya gave me most of her meals, and by the end of the Tokoy-Bangkok flight, I was reaching the point of gluttony. Yuck.

Hey, man, nice to hear an update. Sounds like some interesting work and travels.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that your embassy position is through a contractor called PAE Government Services. I was once called to work for them, too, but by then I had two major things going for me that made me turn them down. One was that I already had a permanent position (as opposed to contractor work), and other, and by far more important, I had a family, and PAE wasn't willing to take them along on their accounts. This would've made living there a real pain (they said they'd provide a one-room hotel suite for me). So, I went with what would make family life more enjoyable.

You'll have the time of your life, though. I wish I could get to Russia really badly. It just doesn't seem to present itself. Oh well, maybe some day.

Did you become a Buddhist monk during you layover in the Kingdom of Thailand or what? Good luck with the chemo. Seriously though, your best bet is to let your head shine forth than to wear that despicable hat.

Also, whatever you do, do not criticize the Thai royalty in anyway during you stay in the K of T. Seriously, they will destroy you and your bald head.

...and fix your clock, fool.
